A Sordid Love Lust Story (2 Samuel 11-12)

As a group review the David and Bathsheba story from 2 Samuel 11. Make sure the whole group is familiar with the details of the story.

Who are the victims in this story (there are several options)? Why?

Create a list of all the sins David commits during the course of this story. How many of the 10 commandments does he break?

How do David's failures make you feel about yourself? Why?

What specifically should David have done (perhaps there are several things he should have done?) once he realized Bathsheba was pregnant? Why do you think he didn't take that course of action?

Why do some people have a hard time admitting they are wrong?

Read 2 Samuel 12:1-10.

Would you have wanted to be Nathan? Why or why not?

Have you ever had someone confront you about a sin you were committing? How did you respond?

Have you ever had to confront someone about a sin they were committing? How did they respond?

How do you know when it is and is not appropriate to confront someone else about sin?

How can this group do a better job of holding one another accountable? How can we do this and still be gracious and merciful?

How should we pray together tonight?
