Investing Your Self Into the Lives of Others (Matthew 28)

Who is a person in your past that made a big investment in your life?  How did their investment change you?

Who are the people (person) into whom you most want to make an investment with your life?  Why?  How do you plan to do this?

Read Matthew 28:16-20.

This short passage is about Jesus and his disciples.  What investments had Jesus made into the lives of the disciples? How had these investments changed them?

Verse 17 says that some "doubted".  A better translation might be that they were "unsure".  What do you think they were unsure about?  What are some parts of your spiritual journey about which you are unsure?

What does it mean to you that Jesus has been given "all authority"?  Is this idea comforting, inspiring, or frightening? How?

When you hear the word "disciple" what do you think about?  Are there people you know today that you consider "disciples"? Who are the? What do you think it means to "make a disciple"?

How does baptism create a picture of salvation? Why do you think Jesus wanted his disciples to baptize the people they were discipling?

Jesus command was to "teach them to obey everything I have commanded you."  What are some of the things Jesus has commanded us to do?

If a true disciple is one that is always obeying Jesus' commands, give yourself a grade on your own discipleship? What do you need to work on?

How can you invest in someone else by helping them become more obedient to Jesus' commands? What steps will you take this week to make this happen?
