Investing in Your Children (Ephesians 6)

Read Ephesians 6:4.

What do you think it means to "exasperate" a child?

How did your parents exasperate you? How do you sometimes exasperate your children?

Many translations say "do not provoke your children to anger". How often do you think the anger of children is caused (or helped along) by the actions of their parents?

Read Colossians 3:21. How does this verse help you better understand Ephesians 6:4?

What specific actions can you take to help your children avoid discouragement?

Ephesians 6:4 says to "bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." How can you train your children to serve the Lord?

How much time do you think you should invest in providing positive spiritual training for your children?

When are the ideal times to engage your children in spiritual training?

Why is it important to instruct (or teach) children about God? What are the most important spiritual lessons we should teach our children?

Apart from the church, what spiritual teaching are your children exposed to? Do you think they need more or less spiritual teaching?

How can you help your children get the spiritual instruction they need?

What steps will you take this week to impact your children positively in their relationship with God?
