Love Lasts. (1 Corinthians 13:7)

If you could only wear one outfit for the rest of your life, what would it be? Why?

Who is one person you can always trust?

When you hear the word "permanent", do you have a positive or negative reaction? Why?

As a group, read 1 Corinthians 13:7 together (NIV version below).

"It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres."

The simple truth of this verse is that love lasts forever. Paul uses four different words here to describe the kinds of things love continues to do permanently (this is why brides and grooms say, "'Til death do us part."

Which of these four words do you like best? Why?

With which of these four words do you have the easiest time? With which of these four words do you have the most difficult time?

Talk about a time someone has shown you the kind of love described in this verse. How did it impact your life?

Give an example of the things from which love protects others.

Is it ever okay to not "trust" someone? Why or why not?

Talk about a time when you have had a difficult time hoping the best for someone. How did you handle that struggle? How do you wish you had handled it?

As a group, make a list of ideas which might help people to persevere (or endure) in love even when others make it difficult.

Think of one relationship in your life, and commit to find a way this week to show that person the kind of love discussed in 1 Corinthians 13:7.
