God is More Powerful! (Acts 19)

When you need a really strong person to help you with something, whom do you call? Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you simply weren't strong enough to accomplish something? What did you do?

What do you think it means that God is the "most powerful" being in existence? Are there any limits on God's strength?

Break out into three different groups and assign each group one of the following passages:
  • Acts 19:8-20
  • Acts 19:23-41
Have each group read and study their passage and then answer the following questions:
  • What good thing(s) is God doing in this passage?
  • Who or what is opposed to God in this passage? Why?
  • How is God demonstrated to be "most powerful" in this passage?
Have everyone in the group talk about something good that God has done for them in the past few weeks.

How have you recently experienced opposition in life (either from people or circumstances)? What advice does the group have for you?

How have you sometimes (probably unknowingly) opposed God with your life? How can you avoid being someone who is opposing the will of God?

Why is it encouraging to be reminded that God is more powerful than anything else in creation? How will this reminder specifically change your life in the coming weeks?

Has there ever been a time in your life in which God intervened in a way you didn't expect? How did you respond?

What is one are of your life in which you are hoping God will intervene? In what ways has He already done so? How can the group pray for you this week?
