Playing Hide and Seek with God (Job 23)

Talk about a time you were lost. Where were you trying to go? How did you ultimately get "un-lost"?

Have you ever felt like God was lost? How would you (do you) respond if you felt like you couldn't connect with God?

Read Job 23:1-2. Do you think it is ever okay to feel bitter? Why or why not?

What do you know about Job's story that helps you understand why he was bitter and complaining?

Read Job 23:3-7. If Job could have had a meeting with God, what do you think he would have said? If you were Job, what would you say to God?

What is going on in your life right now that you need to talk to God about? What do you think he would say to you?

Read Job 23:8-10. Why does Job have confidence even though he can't sense the presence of God? What do you think he means that he will "come out like gold?"

Why is it often difficult to wait for God's timing in circumstances? What are some ideas that can help us be more patient as we wait to be made into gold?

Spend some time as a group praying for each individual as God works them into gold.
